La Cornue ranges are built to last generations, and their faults are correspondingly simple: a thermostat, an igniter, a gas valve, a hinge. Across the Chateau and CornuFe ranges we service in Erie, the problems cluster into a familiar mechanical set.
The Problems We Fix Most
- Oven thermostats no longer holding temperature
- Burner ignition and simmer problems
- Gas valve and orifice issues, including LP setup
- Door, hinge and seal wear on heavy oven doors
- Element and control faults on dual-fuel units
How the Symptoms Sort Out
| Symptom | Likely Cause | What the Fix Involves |
|---|---|---|
| Oven off temperature | Thermostat fault | Test and replace the thermostat |
| Burner will not light | Igniter or cap fault | Clean the port, reseat the cap |
| Yellow, sooty flame | LP setup or orifice | Verify orifices for propane and altitude |
| Door sags or leaks heat | Hinge or seal wear | Service the hinge and seal |
What to Check First
For an oven that will not hold temperature, the thermostat is tested against the actual oven reading. For burners, the cap, port and igniter are checked, and LP setup is confirmed on propane homes. Heavy doors are serviced at the hinge and seal.
When to Stop and Book
If you smell gas, see water reaching electrical parts, or a unit is warming with food inside, stop troubleshooting and arrange service. A quick diagnosis costs less than a guessed part.
